- the MapServer buildkit is available for Microsoft Visual Studio 9 (2008) and
  7 (2003) compilers
- the 2008 version will be the active development version as of 03/2009
- the image format ECW is currently not included in the 2008 buildkit (see
  build issues reported in http://forums.ermapper.com/viewtopic.php?p=7857)
